A pentecostal perspective free pdf download
The following is an exploratory paradigm that seeks to move towards identi- fying streams of Christianity that will continue into the next millen- nium. The ability of Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry to arrive at several important convergen- ces should encourage Pentecostalists from all over the world to sense a welcome opportunity to participate in the future of the conciliar move- ment.
Although they are distracted by the absence of their doctrinal and pastoral priorities, their greatest loss may be the lack of redress by Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry to anything like the Pentecostal ethos. Tensions between the institutional and the charismatic have appeared throughout canonical and ecclesiastical history. Although the Pentecostal movement is an obvious testimony to the belief in releasing charisms in the community of the faithful, in reality many gifts have been suppressed by dominating authority figures and structures.
Most Pentecostals seem to deny the continuance of special revelation unique to scripture, while owning contemporary charismatic insights and inspirations. This in turn has given rise to bureaucracies and shibboleth monitors rivalling the older Roman Catholic magisterium. The local church at the centre Yet one common feature distinguishes Pentecostal churches.
Even with the most rigid control from the top down, the local churches are constantly exhorted to be alive and on fire. Each member is expected to be active and carry the flame. To bend a familiar image, Pentecostals believe in the transubstantiation not of elements or buildings, but of believers. If their narrative theology has at times been uneasy with mainstream formulations of gospel truth, the same cannot be said about the Pentecostal resolve to adhere to perceived fundamentals of the faith.

Although the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches has made considerable progress toward the elimination of various societal barriers, it remains possible that Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry encompasses remnants of an unintentional socio-economic bias. The Pentecostal movement represents different layers of socio-economic strata from those of the creators of Baptist, Eucharist and Ministry.
The paucity of scholars available to respond to Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry is something of an acquiescence in the socio-economic realities familiar to non-whites in the Third World. Hunter subject to extensive analysis can become entombed in layers of theological formulas which do not stimulate the faithful. A not-distant echo of the crux of the matter is found in speculation about whether Emil Brunner's The Divine-Human Encounter had any bearing on the interest in Pentecostals displayed by the likes of Dr Eduard Schweizer.
Interestingly, Emil Brunner was not only Professor of Dogmatics at the University of Zurich, but he held professorial rank in the department of preaching.
Studies in the Hebrew canon which have emphasized the power of the spoken word are relevant. For the Pentecostal masses it is evident that the spoken word effects action.
